About Me

Abundant life. Victory in my everyday circumstances. These are what I desire for myself, and what I hope to focus on in my blog. Oh, and throw in some creativity, honesty, and encouragement, too! πŸ˜‰

Who I Am

My name is Crystal, and I live in New Jersey with my wonderful husband, Roy, and our two awesome pets. I have been blessed with a supportive family, great friends, and countless other gifts.

Life is still not easy, however. I have struggled with anxiety, OCD, and depression for over two decades, and I try to take baby steps toward recovery each day. I often feel alone and misunderstood, but thankfully, I always have at least one Person who completely understands and accepts me.

Jesus Christ has played an instrumental role in my life. He has saved me, been an ever-present Friend, listens to my prayers, and gives me the hope that I need to keep putting one foot after the other.

What I Enjoy

Some of my favorite things to do are read, watch good movies, take photographs, visit new places, enjoy nature, and be around animals. I also like to try different arts and crafts, write/journal, sip on a good cup of tea or coffee, and spend time with my family and friends.

Enjoying books, coffee, and pastries at Barnes & Noble!

What My Blog is About

Out of the Mud and Mire is my place to share what’s going on in my life. Whether it’s a lesson learned, an answer to prayer, or a struggle that I’m facing, I seek to be open and honest in my posts.

What I Want My Readers to Know

I LOVE to interact with my readers, and I do hope that you will leave a comment–even if it’s only a short one! Tell me what you think about my post, if there’s something you can relate to, any suggestions that you may have, or even share a word of encouragement! I try my very best to respond to all of the comments I receive, because I want to get to know YOU.

Thank you for reading, and many blessings to you! ❀

  1. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for the follow. I too have suffered with several mental health issues so I understand the daily struggle. I also understand how these problems drive my closeness to Jesus. I’m glad to hear that you have a supportive family.

    1. You’re welcome! I’m sorry that you too struggle with several mental health issues. However, It is always comforting to be reminded that I am not alone. It feels that way so often. But the good thing about the struggle is that – as you mentioned – it drives you closer to God. Thank you for your comment; it means a lot. And I look forward to getting to know you a little better through your blog! Blessings to you. πŸ™‚

  2. It always cheers and reassures me to read of another Christian woman who is open about suffering depression/anxiety–not happy for your suffering, but I believe it’s freeing (and helps others) to speak of it openly. God bless you and your family abundantly.
