Thankful Thursday – And an Attitude Adjustment

God showed me today that I’ve been harboring an ungrateful attitude. Instead of letting go of the little things that bother me, I’ve been clinging to them and blowing them out of proportion. It’s difficult to receive an attitude adjustment…but God knows what I need, and always does what’s best for me.

So I figured it would be good to focus on some things that I’m thankful for. This way I can hopefully kick the ungratefulness to the curb. Here are a few things that I’m specifically thankful for today.

  1. The calming sound of the rain as it waters the earth. We’ve been getting a lot of rain along with thunder and lightning recently. Although I don’t enjoy when I have to go outside during a downpour, I do like listening to the steady rain on our rooftop when I’m trying to fall asleep at night.
  2. Birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and other celebrations of life. Although I’m not a big fan of parties, it’s still nice to celebrate important milestones with friends and family.
  3. Books. Enough said.
  4. Coffee. Not much to add to that, either.
  5. A husband who works very hard to provide for our family. Even though he’s not crazy about his jobs, Roy shows up each day and does the best that he can.
  6. The vacation we were able to take. It’s not often that we get a lot of time together to just relax…but our trip to Virginia was a needed break, and we’re grateful to God for it.
  7. That God sees us and knows us completely and still loves us just the same.
  8. Good memories. It’s nice to reminisce with loved ones about stories from the past. The memories can even spur you on towards the future.
  9. Nature. Flowers, trees, raindrops, insects, clouds, and sunrises/sunsets are just a few. Nature inspires me.
  10. Prayer warriors. I’m so thankful for people who lift me up in prayer. When I’m weak, I know that others are helping to carry my burdens to the Lord.

Thank you so much for reading. 🙂 What is something that you are thankful for today? ❤

Thankful Thursday – Outings, Pets, and Forgiveness

I haven’t written a “Thankful Thursday” post in quite some time; but I felt like writing tonight, and what better subject to write about than things I’m thankful for?

Here’s just a few:

A trip to Batsto with my Hubby  – Roy and I were able to drive down to Batsto on Sunday to share some time together and to take some photos. The weather was a little chilly – but still nice – and it was a blessing to be able to breathe in the *almost* Spring air.

A booked vacation to Williamsburg  – The Hubby and I haven’t been able to get away much, but we try to take a trip each year for our anniversary in May. We were able to find a location and a hotel that work for us, and we’re looking forward to exploring Williamsburg and Shenandoah in a few short months!

The comfort of our pets – I’m always grateful for our dog, Daisy, and our cat, Misty…but they really have been a comfort recently. They’re there with me during the day when the Hubby is working and they keep me company. They definitely have their weird quirks, but that only causes us to love them more!

God’s forgiveness – I haven’t been doing well with my sleep schedule. I don’t feel tired until late at night, wake up numerous times after going to bed, and then I sleep-in the next day. It has been a battle for me for some time, and sometimes I feel like I’ll never overcome it. But God has been gracious, forgiving me when I mess up, and encouraging me with His Word and His Spirit to keep fighting.

What is something you’re grateful for? Thanks for reading, and I hope your week is going well! ❤

Thankful Thursday (episode 8)

Being thankful is difficult sometimes. I missed sharing my gratitude list last week, as I still have been feeling very low. But God has somehow continued to bring to mind things that I can be thankful for.

I may not “feel” grateful, but I am trying to offer praise to God anyhow…and I believe the feeling will come later. So here is my gratitude list from the past two weeks.

  • Roy received good news that his college application fee will be waived and that he has fewer credits to complete than he thought to get his Bachelor’s degree.
  • God providing for all of my needs.
  • I had a nice conversation with a friend who understands what I’m going through.
  • My Hubby did the dishes for me!
  • We played handbells well for Music Appreciation Day at church.
  • Roy and I were able to relax together in the afternoon.
  • The Hubby and I used a gift card to go to Cracker Barrel for dinner! *yum*
  • A good night’s rest.
  • That I have hands to wash dishes with.
  • I got my hair cut and it turned out great. 🙂
  • I accomplished some chores, even though I didn’t feel like it.
  • Roy and I celebrated five years of marriage. ❤
  • We went to a wine tasting and really enjoyed it.
  • We shared a nice time with our families.
  • Safety and fun traveling to Wissahickon Park.
  • My Hubby vacuumed the house for me.
  • The smell of honeysuckle in our backyard.

I hope that everyone is having a good week. And whatever it is you may be going through…know that God’s got you (I tell myself this often). Also, try to find small things to be grateful for (I’m working on this too). ❤
